Review and Giveaway of Dark Summer by Lizzy Ford
| September 24, 2012 | Posted by Jenn under Giveaway |
Hey everybody!
Well, everybody who still follows me.
I know it has been ages (April) since I last posted but I’ve decided to get back into it!
Now, I may not post as much as I used to but I’m gonna try to post about once a week.
For anyone who is new to the site, I do short and sweet book reviews, random postings, blog tours and of course GIVEAWAYS!!!!
In the near future I will be having quite a few giveaways in the hopes to earn back (buy) your love.
Right now, I am trying to buy your love by offering the following:
For every 50 followers via networked blogs or linky AND the indiesupporter facebook page, I will randomly select a person to get a 15.00 Amazon gift card.
Now, if you refer a friend to my blog, the person who gets the most referrals, (the person can leave a comment as to who referred them) will get a 40.00 Amazon card.
Contest will end October 15, 2012, so please show me some love…..
Without further adieu, my first post on this new blog is going to be a short and sweet review about an awesome book that I read (over and over again) recently by none other than Lizzy Ford!!!!
For those of you that are unaware, I am a HUGE Lizzy Ford fan and not just because I am lucky enough to work for her.
This lady has some SERIOUS talent and writing skills, not to mention she’s such a kick ass person in general.
The book I read which knocked my flip flops off (it’s still summer here and too hot for socks) was Dark Summer.
It is Lizzy’s first YA paranormal book and man is it freaking epic!!!
Synopsis:
A girl with a broken past and a dark secret. A boy with a twisted future and no second chances. When they meet, it just might cost them their souls.
Sixteen-year-old Summer doesn’t expect the new boarding school to be any different than the rest: a temporary stay where everyone will turn against her after a few weeks. Until she meets the rest of the students at this special school and realizes she’s not the only one with magic in her blood. Accustomed to the concrete jungle of LA, she gets lost one night in the forests of the Rocky Mountains and meets Decker, the boy who will become the Master of Night and Fire on his eighteenth birthday. Their connection is instant and dangerous, for both will be forced to choose between Light and Dark, life and death, love – and their souls.
One choice. One soul. One price.
(How EPIC is that last line?!?!)
The reason why I loved this book so much was because it just felt so real to me.
In this story, there’s of course a budding romance between two teenagers (thank god, no triangle!!!) and they way that she wrote it, it was so natural and real that it literally brought back memories of my own experience with my first love when I was 16.
As I read this story, I was actually flooded with the emotions that the characters were experiencing because I felt them once myself.
So, this story line really hit home for me.
Not to mention the action scenes, plot twists and turns and cliffhanger.
This story is one bad mamma jamma and my newest favorite work by her.
Lizzy has done something that few writers (esp lately) have been able to do.
She captures and writes the story of teenagers and how they act without making you want to smack them or roll your eyes .
Her characters are believeable and totally relatable.
Which is so rare in the sea of slush that I am seeing being sold lately.
Sorry, I’m not being a hater, just voicing my opinion for what it’s worth.
In short, if you’re looking for a FAB quality read that will more than likely have you taking your own little trip down memory lane, then pick up this book!
If you love paranormal pick up this book!

I love the book! The characters are believable and the story is a total page-turner! I wasn’t able to stop reading it until the end. I can’t wait for the next one. I’ll be sure to check out Lizzy Ford’s website and her other books too.
I totally know what you mean about the ridiculously-acting teenagers these days. And trust me, you’re not even close to being a hater. I’ve said much worse things because it can just get so freaking annoying!
Anyway, it’s tragic I still haven’t read any Lizzy Ford books. I’m going to check to see if I have something sitting on my laptop – you can find the randomest things when you really look!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it
Thaks Jenn
I knew that I will love and enjoy the book just from reading the first few chapters. The story is well written and the chemistry between the two main characters are just phenomenal. The ending was a shocker and I can’t wait to know how it will go in the next book.
